About Shawna
I am essentially a comforter at heart. I have been a counselor for as long as I can remember. Listening to my peers as they spoke of their hurts and pains was a normal characteristic of my childhood. I have been a student of cultures and people groups as well. I love to travel and appreciate the opportunity to discover cultural diversity. While living in Hawaii, I was able to work with culturally diverse young men assimilating them back into society from the prison system and co-lead groups for child victims of domestic violence. That passion for connecting and supporting others has only increased as I have matured. I have over 16 years experience in Social Work and Counseling. This experience includes facilitating group therapy, child, adolescent, individual and family counseling. I have counseled clients with many types of concerns including: personal dissatisfaction, depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, grief and loss, abuse and relationship difficulties.
I have been happily married for 25 years. I am a mother of two children, a girl who has graduated college and a boy that is currently in college.
It is also important for you to know that I am a woman of God and seek to be available as a vessel through which His love and healing flows. If you are seeking Christian based counseling, I will provide that.
Education
I received my education from Sonoma State University and earned a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice Administration in 1992 and a Masters of Arts in Counseling in 2007.
